Every wash and fold service prices by weight, and almost nobody knows what their laundry weighs. Here's a practical guide so you can estimate before you send a bag.

What a "load" weighs
A standard home washer handles 8 to 12 lbs. A large front-loader takes 15 to 18. The big commercial machines at a laundromat run 20 to 40 lbs.
So when someone says "four loads a week," they usually mean 35 to 50 lbs, depending on the machine they're picturing.
How far 50 lbs goes
One person, everyday clothes: 50 lbs is roughly five to six weeks of wear. If you're solo and only sending clothes, a 50 lb monthly allowance is more than you need — you'd be paying for headroom you never use.
A couple: about three to four weeks of clothes, or three weeks if you're also sending towels. This is where a monthly allowance starts to fit neatly.
Family of four: about a month of everyday clothes, tight if you add bedding. Kids' clothes are light individually but there are a lot of them, and sports gear comes back heavier than it went out.
Anyone sending towels and sheets: budget hard. A single queen sheet set plus four bath towels is around 12 lbs — a quarter of a monthly allowance in one bag.
Three things that quietly add weight
Towels
They're the heaviest thing most households wash, and they hold water and humidity, which matters in Florida. If you're near your limit, towels are the first thing to hold back.
Denim and heavy cotton
Five pairs of jeans is more than seven pounds. A stack of hoodies is heavier than it looks.
Bedding
Comforters and duvets can be a third of a monthly allowance on their own. Most people send those separately, a couple of times a year.
How to estimate at home
Stand on a bathroom scale, note the number, pick up your laundry bag, and stand on it again. The difference is your bag weight. Do it once and you'll have a reliable sense of what your normal bag runs — most households land between 12 and 20 lbs per full bag.
Four of those bags is your 50 lbs.
What happens if you go over
