The Truth About Dry Cleaning vs. Wash-and-Fold

Not every shirt needs dry cleaning. Here is the simple rule for which items belong in which bag.

Dry cleaning uses chemical solvents to lift stains without water. Wash-and-fold uses water, detergent, and heat. Both are safe — for the right garments.

Rule of thumb: if the care label says "dry clean only" and the fabric is silk, wool, suede, or structured (like a suit jacket), send it to dry cleaning. Everything else — tees, jeans, socks, underwear, athleisure, sheets, towels — belongs in the wash-and-fold bag.

When in doubt, text us a picture of the care label. We will tell you which pile it should go in.
